SQE1 format
SQE1 tests functioning legal knowledge through single-best-answer multiple-choice questions only — no essays and no oral part.
How many questions are on SQE1?
360: FLK1 and FLK2 have 180 questions each. Each FLK is sat in two sessions of 90 questions.
How long is each session?
2 hours 33 minutes for 90 questions — about 1 minute 42 seconds per question.
What does a question look like?
A short set of facts, one question line (for example, which advice is best) and five options. One is the single best answer; the others are plausible but weaker.
Is ethics a separate paper?
No. Professional conduct and ethics are tested within questions across all topics.
Where are the exams sat?
On computer at Pearson VUE test centres. Check sqe.sra.org.uk for current arrangements.
